Choosing an
instructor of Tae Kwon Do...
Choosing the
right teacher is clearly an important step for a student of Tae
Kwon Do. Whether martial arts is a life-expanding experience, or
a bad experience, is determined largely by the methods and
philosophy of the instructor.
The teacher
should embody a settled, centered, mature way of dealing with
life that the student can be drawn to the emulate. Teachers that
possess a few decades of practice and teaching experience have
achieved this inner harmony. These instructors focus not only on
physical skills, but also on their student's mental and moral
development and balance.
Grand Master Kwang K. YI

The teacher that qualifies to be
called a "Master" or even a "Grand Master" must
possess a high degree of technical skill, and must be able to
provide the proper motivation, challenge, and encouragement to
students during their development. Instructors that have these
skills are available, but they are not plentiful. Grand Master Kwang
is one of the few.
Grand Master Kwang has studied
Tae Kwon Do for almost over 40 years. He has earned a coveted
8th degree Black Belt, and has won numerous Korean national
championships, including the President's Cup, which before
current times was the highest honor for a competitor of Tae Kwon
Do to participate in and win. He is the past master of the
University of Missouri, and is a certified International
Referee.

Grand
Master Kwang has a "whole-person" approach to teaching
Tae Kwon Do, which balances physical and mental development. His
knowledge, patience, and experience creates an atmosphere in
which students of all ages can excel. Master Kwang's knowledge
of the Tae Kwon Do is surpassed only by his skill as a teacher.
